Julie + Fran's North Shore Wedding

I photographed so many North Shore weddings this season; probably more than I photographed in Boston. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Boston’s North Shore, it’s a very pretty area with quaint little New England towns like Salem, Peabody and Beverly.

Julie and Fran are really funny and truly nice people. Fran’s daily facebook updates might be the funniest of any of my facebook contacts. And Julie is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful clients I’ve worked with. You remember their engagement session from last winter? It was possibily the coldest weather in which I’ve ever photographed. During the session I said: “I really wish I had some fingerless gloves.” A few weeks later a package arrived in the mail from Julie — fingerless gloves!

Julie and Fran’s wedding ceremony was at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody and their reception was held at the Nahant Country Club.

This cake topper was on the kitchen table at Julie’s parent’s house. I think it might be from her parent’s wedding cake — looks kind of retro. But I just thought it was so nice! It reminds me of my parent’s cake topper that I used to stare at as a kid.

Vinh + Lik Fun's Wedding at the Langham Hotel, Boston

Vinh and Lik Fun found me through flickr, a photo sharing site I’ve been using for the past few years. I started my flickr page in 2006, before I decided to become a wedding photographer. As I was going through my flickr stream recently, it was fun to see how my work has progressed over the past three years. I think I even have some drawings posted on there that I did in high school!

Although Vinh and Lik Fun had around 100 guests at their wedding, they wanted a second photographer. See, they’re my kind of clients — they’re really into photographs. So I want to thank my second photographer and assistant on this assignment, Cait Robbins. She took some awesome photos that I’ll be adding to this wedding collection.

Incidentally, this was the fourth tea ceremony that I’ve photographed in the past few weeks! Until this year I had never even been to a tea ceremony, but I have to say I enjoy the tradition. I feel like I’m getting to be a pro at photographing tea ceremonies! I was at a wedding recently and someone said “I’m not really sure how we do this” and I almost had to stop myself from stepping in!:)

Linda + Sean's Boston Wedding: St. James the Greater Church; Hilton Back Bay

This past weekend I photographed Linda and Sean’s wedding at St. James the Greater Church in Chinatown and the Hilton Back Bay in Boston.

I was AMAZED at the beauty of this church. Don’t let the humble facade of this building fool you, this is an absolutely gorgeous church. It almost felt like a European cathedral.

I wasn’t feeling too great on this day. As a matter of fact, unbeknownst to me I was on the verge of coming down with a stomach flu. Which happened to hit me as I arrived at the church. What do do? Just keep shooting and have someone get you a Coke. And keep your mind off how you’re feeling by thinking happy, pretty thoughts. Which was easy to do at Linda and Sean’s wedding.
