We started the photography with some getting-ready photos at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel, which is right near Faneuil Hall. Charlene’s makeup by Tavi De La Rosa for Dani Wagener. I told Charlene that we’d use a sunny window to light her portraits. It’s fickle and you can’t control it, but the sun is the ultimate light. Charlene’s flowers by Sarah of Spruce Floral.Charlene and her bridesmaids walked over to meet Ladd at Christopher Columbus Park for their first look. It’s always fun walking down the street with a bride! And Fanuiel Hall was packed on this Saturday. Isn’t Charlene’s dress beautiful? “Isabella” dress by Vera Wang.Photographing on this carousel wasn’t easy! I really had to hold on for dear life… or dear cameras. I had two cameras strapped around me while I stood against a horse and held on to the pole. Don’t try this at home. The State Room has such an incredible view of the city. It’s like a constantly changing backdrop, as the light fades into night.

They had their first look and portraits before the ceremony, in one of the upstairs rooms at Town Hall. Normally I would do the first look outdoors, but the light and atmosphere inside was really nice.

Their ceremony was originally scheduled to be held outdoors, but it started raining so we moved inside. You really can’t go wrong at this venue for an outside or indoor wedding.

Seasoned To Taste catered the wedding. The food was excellent!

Jana and Scott had tons of DIY details at their wedding: Jana wore a handmade necklace, earrings and hair clip; their wedding bands were made by a friend; and Jana made folded paper decorations. Scott –who is an illustrator and designer — designed their wedding logo and created their cake topper. There were temporary tattoos and a photo booth and a balloon drop… and the list of creative details goes on!

Jana’s bouquet was composed of bouquet with lilac, green orchids, purple anemonies, green cymbidium blossom, hybrid star of Bethlehem, white freesia, fiddle fern and globe thistle accented with branches and seeded eucalyptus tied with an ivory satin ribbon
Scott’s sister Lisa was part of the Groom’s party. She was the Best Woman! Well, “Best” next to Jana. Scott wore a Ben Sherman suit. His boutonnière was made from a purple dendrobium orchid cluster with fiddle ferns and twigs. Jana wore pretty little lavender satin ballet flats.The cake topper was made from plastic toys that Scott hand-painted. I love how the figures are dressed like the couple. He’s even wearing Scott’s plaid tie and she’s carrying a tiny version of origami paper flowers! In the pool, there were loating clusters of white, lavender and green flowers on philodendron leaves with candles.Jana and Scott had some noteworthy guests at their wedding…. seating cards at right, below.

I have a ways to go with editing photographs from this wedding — these are just my top picks that I quickly pulled. I wanted to get Wilson and Lindsey some preview photos before they left for their two month honeymoon! They’ll spend the next eight weeks backpacking across Europe and India.

They had tons of great calligraphy at this wedding — from these letterpress invitations and cards to the hand-lettered escort cards at the reception. Monogrammed, embroidered handkerchiefs were among Lindsey’s gifts to her bridesmaids.A photograph of Lindsey’s grandmother, who was there in spirit, below at right. A bridesmaid and stylist Caitlin Murphy place the veil over Lindsey’s face.Here’s where I almost lost it with the tears. Lindsey and her parents arrived at the church in a 1937 Cadillac. When the car pulled up and all the tourists were cheering and snapping photos, and the bagpiper was playing… I really had to fight back tears! It was all very dramatic! Where it all started: “One if by land, two if by sea.” The Old North Church still uses brass candle chandeliers, which were first lit on Christmas day in 1724. Wilson and Lindsey are both of Scottish descent, and a bagpiper played as people entered and left the church. The tower at right, below, is the steeple where Paul Revere arranged to have lanterns hung. We headed to the Boston Public Garden for some portraits after the wedding ceremony. I didn’t have to give them direction for their portraits below. They were so happy to be married! The wedding reception took place in the Lenox’s Dome Room.
