Kristen & Kevin’s Weddding at St. Gregory’s Church & the Westin

With the year coming to a close I have  only one more wedding to process but at least four to blog! I also have some winter engagement sessions coming up, including an outdoor  night shoot with Christmas lights. So even though it’s technically not wedding season in Boston, the blog will be well-stocked over the next few months.:)

Kristen and Kevin’s wedding reception at the Westin had a lounge, nighttime, city feel. Which is kind of how I’m feeling at this time of year with these short days and long nights. Their Catholic ceremony at St. Gregory’s included Filipino traditions (veil pinning) from Kristen’s family.

Erica + Mike's October Wedding

When Erica contacted me earlier this year about photographing her October 31st wedding, she already had a vision of her wedding day. We talked about a rustic, classic, fall wedding with romantic portraits and attention to detail. Ten months later, I have to say she really pulled it off!

Erica and Mike’s wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

A bagpiper honored Erica’s Scottish heritage. He played as she walked down the aisle. I dig his outfit, big-time.

Erica and Mike also had a hand fastening (cord tying) during their ceremony. I didn’t know this, but this Celtic ritual is where the term “tying the knot” comes from.

As a graphic designer, Erica was very creative about her wedding. She designed and created many of these details herself.

A wedding as a matchmaking event? Single guests had the option to wear ice-breaker buttons, which were available at the bar.

A cigar roller was on hand to roll regular and honey-flavored cigars. Custom cigar bands and matchbooks had the skull and crossbones icon which was used throughout the wedding.

Henry + Joel’s Boston Wedding

Henry and Joel live in Florida and recently traveled to Boston for their wedding. They stayed and got ready at the Intercontinental Hotel. The ceremony and reception were held at Radius Restaurant.

One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is that I get to meet so many nice people. And experiencing so many weddings also gives me hope. Sometimes in my day-to-day life I can get kind of pessimistic. Then I meet people like Henry and Joel, and I see the support and love from their friends and family. And I know that there’s so much love in the world.

The Reverend Deacon Economos performed the ceremony. With an Eastern Orthodox Christian background, he and I had some interesting conversations over dinner!

Lauren & Jeff's Boston Wedding: MIT Chapel & The Living Room

I always wanted to photograph a wedding ceremony at the MIT Chapel. What can you say about this building which was designed by Eero Saarinen? It has that mid-20th century/futuristic style which I absolutely love.  Damn, there was so much beautiful design in the 1950′s and 1960′s.
