Lindsey & Wilson's Boston Wedding: The Old North Church & The Lenox Hotel

Sometimes you take a leap of faith, and one of those leaps is definitely marriage. Lindsey and Wilson took a leap of faith when they hired me sight unseen, over the phone about a year ago. They were living in Athens, Georgia so we were only able to meet in person a few weeks ago. They finally had their wedding this past weekend at the Old North Church and their reception at the Lenox Hotel. This wedding was Old World, classic, historic Boston.

I have a ways to go with editing photographs from this wedding — these are just my top picks that I quickly pulled. I wanted to get Wilson and Lindsey some preview photos before they left for their two month honeymoon! They’ll spend the next eight weeks backpacking across Europe and India.

View from the 11th floor suite at the Lenox Hotel.
Lindsey wore a Vera Wang gown. Beautiful!
They had tons of great calligraphy at this wedding — from these letterpress invitations and cards to the hand-lettered escort cards at the reception.
Monogrammed, embroidered handkerchiefs were among Lindsey’s gifts to her bridesmaids.
A photograph of Lindsey’s grandmother, who was there in spirit, below at right.
A bridesmaid and stylist Caitlin Murphy place the veil over Lindsey’s face.
Here’s where I almost lost it with the tears. Lindsey and her parents arrived at the church in a 1937 Cadillac. When the car pulled up and all the tourists were cheering and snapping photos, and the bagpiper was playing… I really had to fight back tears! It was all very dramatic!
Where it all started: “One if by land, two if by sea.” The Old North Church still uses brass candle chandeliers, which were first lit on Christmas day in 1724.
Wilson and Lindsey are both of Scottish descent, and a bagpiper played as people entered and left the church. The tower at right, below, is the steeple where Paul Revere arranged to have lanterns hung.
We headed to the Boston Public Garden for some portraits after the wedding ceremony.
I didn’t have to give them direction for their portraits below. They were so happy to be married!
The wedding reception took place in the Lenox’s Dome Room.
Wilson and Lindsey welcome guests to the reception. Behind them, Florencia Gonzalez band.
Thank you Wilson and Lindsey for letting me be part of your wonderful and beautiful wedding day!

Cynthia & Rene's Harvard Sq. Wedding: Upstairs On The Square

Last week on a rainy Friday, I photographed Cynthia and Rene’s wedding in Harvard Square. Their ceremony was at their bakery, Hi Rise Bread Company on Brattle St.  The reception was at Upstairs on the Square.

This wedding was literally three days ago, but I just couldn’t wait to share these photos!

Client Appreciation & Friend Referrals

I looked through my business notes and noticed something big: Almost half of my new clients are referrals from current and former clients. First of all, THANK YOU to my clients for sending so many of your friends my way. This strong referral network has *almost* eliminated the need for me to have paid advertising, and I’m booking wedding photography services about 90 percent through word-of-mouth.

Complimentary Engagement Session or Print Credit

As a *thank you* to my clients, I’ve decided that for the next three months, current 2010 – 2011 clients who refer a friend that books wedding photography with me will receive a complimentary engagement, portrait, or “day-after” photography session OR a $300 print credit in my store. The only rules are that you must be a current wedding client whose wedding takes place between May 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011. The friend you refer must sign their wedding photography contract with me between tomorrow (March 24th) and June 30th, 2010.

After I Do

Another one of my favorite wedding day images — the bride and groom during the recessional. From Erica and David’s wedding on the North Shore of Massachusetts. August, 2009.

Danielle & Walter’s Wedding, Exchange Center, Seaport District, Boston

Danielle and Walter were married last month at Boston’s Exchange Conference Center in the Seaport District. They found me through their friends and fellow clients, Amy and David. Needless to say, many of the guests were the same at both weddings (including both couples!). Danielle and Walter met when they were students at the Massachusetts College of Art. I love my artsy clients.

This was my last wedding of the 2009 season and I’m just wrapping up a few albums. What a year!

Kristen & Kevin’s Weddding at St. Gregory’s Church & the Westin

With the year coming to a close I have  only one more wedding to process but at least four to blog! I also have some winter engagement sessions coming up, including an outdoor  night shoot with Christmas lights. So even though it’s technically not wedding season in Boston, the blog will be well-stocked over the next few months.:)

Kristen and Kevin’s wedding reception at the Westin had a lounge, nighttime, city feel. Which is kind of how I’m feeling at this time of year with these short days and long nights. Their Catholic ceremony at St. Gregory’s included Filipino traditions (veil pinning) from Kristen’s family.

Amy + David’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate, Topsfield, MA

Amy and David were recently married at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, Mass. Here are a few of my favorite photos from their wedding day.

And… I’m updating this post with some info on the Etsy items that were used in this wedding:
