A Slideshow: Ed & Nina, Eloped in New York City

A few weeks ago I wrote about my friends Ed and Nina’s elopement in NYC. That post received more comments than anything I’ve ever published on the blog! So to follow up, I thought I’d share their slideshow.

This is the only client slideshow where I’ve ever made a cameo appearance. I don’t normally do that, but Ed and Nina are friends. Their wedding was just me, Ed, Nina, and Oscar: Ed’s 96-year-old godfather who was also best man at Ed’s parents’ wedding in 1970. Oh, and check out all of the other couples getting married at New York City Hall. I love it!

Whitney + Phil: Engaged in Boston

I recently posted a photo of Whitney and Phil’s engagement at Boston’s ICA. It may easily be my favorite engagement portrait of all time! Here are a few more favorites from that session.

We photographed in Boston’s Chinatown, the Brattle Bookstore, and the ICA.

engagement

You might remember my friend Ed, whose NYC elopement I recently photographed. Well, you see that blurry figure all the way in the background of the photo below? That’s Ed! I have joked to him many times that he is EVERYWHERE. I bump into him more than anyone else I know. He popped up a few minutes later and said hi, and then I realized that he had been in the background while I was photographing. Small world.

I am so, so excited to photograph Whitney and Phil’s wedding next September at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California. As my second destination wedding next season, it will be a real adventure!

Bookings Update: 2010

I am so, so excited about all of the fun weddings I have coming up in 2010. Just my second full-time wedding season, I’ll be traveling to Ardmore, Ireland and La Jolla, California for destination weddings. I’ll also be photographing around Boston, Rhode Island, and the Cape. A few of the venues I’ll be photographing at (and you’ll be seeing on the blog next year) include: the Boston Museum of Science; the State Room; Belle Mer; the Dennis Inn (again!); the Ocean View Inn, Gloucester; the Omni Parker House, Boston; Mistlewood, Beverly; the Cambridge Multicultural Center; the MIT Chapel and Oleana, Cambridge; Commander’s Mansion, Watertown; CAV, Providence; Roger Williams Park; the Old North Church, Boston; Villa at the Ritter Club; Ocean Edge Resort, Brewster; Stonehurst, Waltham; the Lenox Hotel, Boston; Pine Hills Country Club, Plymouth; Henderson House, Weston; the Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, California; and the Cliff House, Ardmore, Ireland.

Right now 2010 is about 75% booked and on track to be completely booked by February/March. I’m starting to book 2011.:)

Julie + Fran's North Shore Wedding

I photographed so many North Shore weddings this season; probably more than I photographed in Boston. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Boston’s North Shore, it’s a very pretty area with quaint little New England towns like Salem, Peabody and Beverly.

Julie and Fran are really funny and truly nice people. Fran’s daily facebook updates might be the funniest of any of my facebook contacts. And Julie is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful clients I’ve worked with. You remember their engagement session from last winter? It was possibily the coldest weather in which I’ve ever photographed. During the session I said: “I really wish I had some fingerless gloves.” A few weeks later a package arrived in the mail from Julie — fingerless gloves!

Julie and Fran’s wedding ceremony was at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody and their reception was held at the Nahant Country Club.

This cake topper was on the kitchen table at Julie’s parent’s house. I think it might be from her parent’s wedding cake — looks kind of retro. But I just thought it was so nice! It reminds me of my parent’s cake topper that I used to stare at as a kid.

Erica + Mike's October Wedding

When Erica contacted me earlier this year about photographing her October 31st wedding, she already had a vision of her wedding day. We talked about a rustic, classic, fall wedding with romantic portraits and attention to detail. Ten months later, I have to say she really pulled it off!

Erica and Mike’s wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

A bagpiper honored Erica’s Scottish heritage. He played as she walked down the aisle. I dig his outfit, big-time.

Erica and Mike also had a hand fastening (cord tying) during their ceremony. I didn’t know this, but this Celtic ritual is where the term “tying the knot” comes from.
