Maria and Carl had their wedding at the Ocean View Inn in Gloucester, Massachusetts. I have to tell you that this is a case where they were going to go with another wedding photographer (shocker!) but he was already booked. We’ll cut Carl and Maria some slack because they hadn’t yet met with me, and said photographer is actually a friend of mine…. ha ha. I’m so glad they found me! This may come as a surprise to people who are getting married, but many of us wedding photographers in Boston are actually friends. It works out great for everyone because we have such a strong referral network when we’re booked. So if you contact me and I’m booked, I’m always happy to point you in the direction of another wedding photographer in the Boston area whose work I trust and admire.

Maria and her mom before the ceremony…

Maria and her mother again, below at left. Below at right, the groomsmen all received monogrammed gold cuff links.

Below, Carl and the groomsmen hanging out on the rocks before the ceremony. He and Maria waited until the wedding ceremony to see each other. Although I often do “first looks” and formal portraits before the ceremony, I am becoming a bigger fan of the bride and groom waiting until the ceremony to see each other. So much anticipation!

Maria walking down the aisle with her father.

I love this photo of Carl’s mom watching the ceremony.

Maria and Carl jumped the gun and kissed before the officiant gave them the o.k. ! They had a re-do right after this, although I prefer this unprompted kiss…

As soon as Carl and Maria entered the reception, he surprised her by performing “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher.” Carl has a great voice! I mean, he sounds like the dude in the original recording. Plus he had The Swinging Johnsons as backup!

Karen Alexander - Just wondering if someone could give me input on how many people were at this wedding? We are planning a wedding next July at the Oceanview and we are concerned with space.. Any help is greatly appreciated..July 17, 2010 – 8:44 pm
maria - Hi Karen,
Sorry I just happened to be sending this link to a friend and noticed your question. We had 168 guest and it was definately tight(we had to put one table in the wood room)! OVI will tell you that they can accomodate 200 but if you are having a band and a dance floor I would recommend keeping it under 150. I got married May 22nd and it was in the low 70′s and it got hot in the ballroom with everyone dancing, so having a wedding there in July would be all the more reason to keep your headcount down.
Best of luck! Dont hesitate to email me…October 6, 2010 – 8:17 pm

Kate - I’m so glad I stumbled on these beautiful pictures! I’m getting married at the Ocean View in June and looking forward to the setting. We’re getting married in the Manor, so our head count will have to be even lower to accommodate the intimate setting.March 3, 2011 – 5:42 pm
